MEET DR. SOREL

Bertrand Sorel was born in Montreal, Canada. After graduating from McGill University with Great Distinction (Bachelor in Sciences, Biology, with major in Human Genetics), he went to the University of Montreal to get his dental degree (D.M.D.) He then spent four years practicing general dentistry, mostly in his own practice on the North shore of Montreal. He then went to the University of Connecticut to pursue a specialty degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. This demanding program integrated a medical degree, a year of general surgery and all the courses and hospital rotations associated with the oral and maxillofacial surgery specialty. Once graduating, he further developed his facial surgery skills by spending a fellowship year focusing mostly on cosmetic surgery with Dr. R. Gregory Smith in Florida. He remained in Florida for more than ten years, working in the West Palm Beach area, then in his own practice on the Treasure Coast of Florida.

Dr. Sorel and his wife, Christiane, as well as their three children then moved to Upstate New York to get closer to their family members still in Canada. Those years were spent in private practice, as well as several years teaching oral surgery to general practice dental residents, as Faculty in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at Ellis Medicine. After returning to Florida and taking a sabbatical, Dr. Sorel joined the Center for Specialized Dentistry to focus on special needs patients, a group that is very underserved across Florida. As part of a full dental rehabilitation team, he provides anesthesia and oral surgery services.

In his spare times, he enjoys reading, pickle ball, scuba diving, live concerts and…even doing yard work in Florida!
